A fine 18ct yellow gold Patek Philippe World Time wristwatch Ref:5110J from 2001.

” The world time system was invented in 1931 by the Genevan watchmaker Louis Cottier. The Cottier system as its known, was used by Patek Philippe and they launched the Ref: 5110 in the year 2000. It was an update to the design that was totally original to Patek Philippe and customers had not ever seen before.”

– Paul Maudsley

The Ref:5110 was the first world timer from Patek Philippe which used a pusher at 10:00 in the case, to automatically change the hour, 24 hour ring, and reference city all at the same time. The Ref:5110 is highly regarded among Patek Philippe enthusiasts and there have been series of variations on the basic design which have included some exotic complications.

The watch to me, is a modern classic of watchmaking and this example is in wonderful condition and comes with with its 18ct gold Patek Philippe deployant clasp, fitted Patek Philippe wooden box and Certificate of Origin showing its UK sale date of September 2001. This watch is direct from the original owner and has not been on the market before, making it a great addition for the Patek Philippe collector.
